Since founding Dos Gardenias in 2016, we were on the hunt for the best luxury, sustainable fabric available. And when we discovered ECONYL® yarn by Aquafil, we knew we’d finally found it. So what is it?
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon made from recycled nylon waste such as fishing nets, carpet and industrialized plastic. It’s just like brand new nylon, except ECONYL® can be recycled, recreated and remolded in an endless cycle. It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material from oil.
The end goal is to make new products without having to use new resources. For Dos Gardenias, that means we are on the forefront of a swimsuit recycling program, in which you may return your swimsuit to us when it’s reached the end of it’s life cycle and we will be able to break it down into regenerated nylon that may be used for a brand new swimsuit. We aren’t quite there yet, but it’s exciting to know this is a possible future to look forward to.
You may currently purchase an ECONYL® swimsuit from our New 2021 Collection, which includes brand new colorways Terra and Mist from the High Summer drop. The Sustainable Sale Collection offers styles from our 2020 collections and the Resort 2022 collection will be available with leisure wear this October.
To invest in Dos Gardenias is to invest in the planet.
